I can remember with exact details calls that the refs blew which had a dramatic impact on the results. I've often wondered if they feel regret for the mistakes years later or if they can compartmentalize it so that it does not eat at them. Your story shows that, as with most things, little white lies and political maneuvering are key to being happy! Nice work.
